A tree standing in solitude | Mohammed Faraz

A tree standing in solitude

With a crowd of leaves standing still and alone

Some leaves young, some leaves old

They all waited for the rush of breeze to approach

They waited and waited for long

At last! A ship of breeze approached

They all swayed in enthusiasm and joy,

And sang in delight ahoy ahoy

Breeze came and went by

Leaving behind the tranquil joyous cries

With contentment in their heart

Some old leaves took their eternal path

Path they chose, had chosen them

So shall it chooses, the next time

Until then sway with the breeze of life

Since the day will come when the ship will arrive

The tree standing in solitude still stands

Watching the leaves rise and fall

Singing the silent tales of all,

And smiles watching the same old folk.
