You sat yourself in my soul,
But you couldn’t keep it alright
Why did you bother then?
If you couldn’t bear its flight?
The wisps of white and black might
Have blocked the colour of my life;
But you could have left my soul alone
To beam its way from the hive.
We could have met again on
The way to our seamless journey,
Or rather not- but could not have
Avoided on the way to mourning.
But the cage you put me in
Had always held me captive
Why did you overlook my soul?
When I was barely active?
You could have given me
A better way to live than this,
But my dear I hear today
You’re not fit for a soul amiss.
